Harvest Of Souls & Faith like Potatoes
What do faith and potatoes have in common? For farmer Angus Buchan, like a potato, his Christian faith is real, plain, simple, and sustains him in everyday life. When God called him to plant potatoes in a time of extreme drought, Angus willingly put his livelihood on the line. Despite the conditions, a bumper crop left fellow farmers amazed at God’s provision.
The crop helped support more than his family and the farm – for Angus is in the business of ‘seed sowing’ for Go

How Not to Become a Christain
Why tell us how NOT to become a Christian?

I spend much time and effort taking services and meetings in churches, prisons, conferences and other places.  Why then should I advise on how NOT to become a Christian?

Its Good to Talk

IT'S GOOD TO TALK!

Our Father in heaven,
May your holy name be honoured;
May your kingdom come,
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven;
Give us today the food we need;
Forgive us the wrong we have done,
As we forgive the wrong that others have done to us;
Do not bring us to hard testing, but deliver us from the Evil One.
(Matthew 6:9-13)

John Affleck

John Affleck survived an abused childhood only to become a violent and restless adult. His former headmaster has told his mother that ‘Your son is useless; his life will never amount to anything. He will probably end up sleeping in a ditch.’
At the age of thirty he survived a near-death knife attack – saved only by the intervention of two Roman Catholic nuns. It was as if he had pushed the self-destruct button on his life.

Liz JenKins: My Story
My faith was very much an ‘instinctive’ faith and not based on true knowledge or a firm foundation because my mother (who died when I was 16 and was ill from when I was 11 years old) either lost her faith or had no faith – I don’t know which but... it left her an atheist (agnostic at best) and she was determined that my head was not going to be ‘filled with that nonsense’.  So, I was not allowed to go to church or Sunday school although mum did allow me t...

Jason Robinson
By Stuart Weir

 Rugby Union’s six-nations championship is in full flow with countries trying to build upon or move on from their performance in the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup.
 A number of players ended their careers at the World Cup and are missing from the Six Nations, notably Jason Robinson. He injured his shoulder and walked off the rugby pitch during the World Cup Final. It was a poignant moment as it was the last time he would play a competitive ga

When the Debt Collector Comes to Call
Faye’s Story
I remember telling the kids not to answer the door or the phone and I was always saying, ‘Have you locked the door? Is the door locked?’ Life was a panic. I was trying to dodge all the callers and hide away all the time. I would shut the curtains in the front room in the middle of the day, which, looking back must have looked very silly.

Why 40 days of Lent
Lent is the period of forty days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar, traditionally a time of fasting and reflection. Shrove Tuesday 5th February, or Pancake Day or Mardi Gras is the day before Lent begins. The British name of Pancake Day comes from the tradition of making pancakes to use up all the food that could not be eaten during Lent.
Ash Wednesday, 6th February is the start of Lent which traditionally marks the time Jesus spent in the wilderness. Though in the past people

Why I Hate Weddings
I’m at the age where it seems every other summer weekend is another wedding. And everyone seems to try and make their wedding a bit different.
Whether it’s fireworks displays, bouncy castles or rodeo sheep, there’s only so much you can cram in before I’m just plain bored.
And they go on so long. Yes, I think it’s wonderful they’re making this commitment, but do I really have to give up my whole day? I’m longing for the invitation where I can tip up
