Quote of the Day

This world is God's workshop for making men in.

Henry Ward Beecher
I Wish

I wish there were some wonderful place
In the land of Beginning Again
Where all our mistakes and all our heartaches
And all our poor selfish grief
Could be dropped like a shabby old coat at the door
And never put on again

Louise Tarkington

Have you wished that you could have an action replay on your life, but this time you would play things very differently? Has life taken you by surprise, and you never thought you would find yourself where you are now? Would you love to have a fresh start at life?
There is a place of beginning again. It is called Calvary. It is the place where Christ died on the cross, carrying the can for all our wrongdoing. Jesus who knew no sin became sin for us. Not only can all our past be forgiven, but also God will credit our account with Jesus’ perfection.
Jesus’ birth, over 2000 years ago reminds us there is a way that we can start over again. The Bible says: ‘He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.’ God never forgave an excuse, but if we own up to our wrong doing, admit it to God with no pretence,

 there is full and free forgiveness, removing our guilt. Jesus paid the punishment for all sin on the cross, and is willing to make clean all who come to Him.
One winter’s night I found myself unable to sleep. About three o’clock in the morning I got out of bed and leaned against the windowsill to watch the stillness of our little cul-de-sac in the early hours of a new day.
We were thick in snow, and a blizzard was still blowing. Then from the nearby woods there emerged a beautiful red fox. It sniffed around a number of our neighbours’ gardens before wandering around ours. The next morning, I went to examine the fox tracks. To my disappointment, they had all gone, covered by the fresh snow which had continued to fall throughout the night. picture of red fox
Musing on the incident, I couldn’t help thinking that in a similar way all my sins could be completely covered, never to be uncovered. God says in the Bible: ‘Your sins and evil deeds I will remember no more.’

Come as you are to Christ. He has loved us with such a great love that He carried all our sins on Himself on the cross of Calvary. With nails in the hands which had done such good; and in the very feet that had taken Him to needy people, He stayed on the cross and paid the price of our sin.
He died that we might be forgiven;
He died to make us good;
That we might go at last to heaven,
Saved by His precious blood.
Because Christ has paid for sin, He is willing to forgive us. Because He has risen from the dead and is alive, He can change us and make all things new. ‘If anyone is in Christ, he/she is a new creature; old things have passed away, all things have become new,’ says the Bible.
Ask Christ to forgive you and He will give you a new start. Jesus said: ‘Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ King David, after he had committed adultery and then so manoeuvred things that the woman’s husband was killed in battle, prayed:
‘Have mercy upon me, 0 God, according to your loving kindness, according to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.’ (Psalm 51). He found the joy of God’s salvation when He confessed His sin directly to God and claimed forgiveness and a new beginning.
Stop and pray, and ask God to be your Lord and Saviour, the God of a new beginning, and the God of your life. ‘Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
