Will you be in London during the weekend of 9th-11th May? If so, then you are in for a treat. A massive weekend party in central London is being planned with hundreds of free events and high impact performances. The Pentecost Festival 2008 is billed as a ‘cross-generational, multi-cultural celebration of the Church’s creativity and compassion’ and will take place across hundreds of venues all located close to ten Northern Line Tube stations, from Camden Town to Waterloo. Co-ordinated by Share Jesus International (SJI), the event offers musical, sporting, artistic, intellectual, spiritual and cultural events, all run by local churches, national and international organisations and charities. Andrew Clark, Executive Director of Christian Today has said, ‘This festival promises to be something the capital has never seen before. It will be a showcase of everything the Church has to offer.’ It is hoped the festival will provide an opportunity to experience the diversity of the Christian faith, and to reveal the vision and talent of Britain’s churches and Christian communities. Mike Pilavachi, founder and leader, of Soul Survivor has said, ‘Pentecost Festival will be full of life, creativity, colour, vision, sport, art, Bible, study, music, drama, worship and dance. Andy Frost from SJI said, ‘Society often sees the church as irrelevant, uninspiring and, frankly, dull. This Christian festival will show society what the Church is really all about.’ For all the latest information on Pentecost Festival 2008, please visit: www.pentecostfestival.co.uk |
