Nathania’s story: Nathania Browne works for London City Mission’s Café Eterno, Neal St, in Covent Garden. She has both a passion for music and to share the love of Christ with people. She’ll be among those taking part in the ‘Share Jesus’ night, a Gospel R & B/ Jazz evening on 9th May at Café Eterno. Here she tells her story. There has always been music in our house. As a child growing up, my father and my mother played music, albeit different genres.
My grandmother and grandfather were always singing hymns at home as they worked. My father’s family are all musicians and so I am no stranger to reggae. I started learning the piano at the age of four. I saw it more as a burden than an adventure at the time but things did change. Going to church also guaranteed that I would hear and sing hymns and choruses and then my time in boarding school also impacted on my musical development. Coming to England though was the biggest push I got towards music. My Mum started to teach me again and I took up the violin and then the drums, finally settling down with the drums. In the meantime I was exposed to hip hop, rap etc, and developed my interest in music production and performance. I decided to give my life to Christ during a Good Friday sermon. Listening to a story I had heard many times before somehow had a different affect on me. I thought deeply about the fact that Jesus died for me, and I could think of no one on this earth who would be willing to go through that amount of pain and suffer for me, and my sins! I decided to give my life to Christ and got baptised, publicly declaring that I am his and He is mine. I believe that Jesus has moulded me into the person that I have become. He has given me talents which I utilise, a passion in my heart to make music and the wisdom and knowledge to understand that there are so many ways that I can further His kingdom through music. I have been working in the café for a couple months now and I am truly enjoying it. Working here my eyes have been opened a little wider in terms of how I can share the love of Christ with people. The ‘Share Jesus’ night will be an opportunity for me to use my own and my family’s passion for music and through that passion to show people the love we have for Jesus. |

world of magic and music where she is wondrously happy. When she meets the courageous and charming Prince Edward everything is complete. All that is needed is a wedding and everyone will live happily ever after.
