Quote of the Day

The purpose of Christianity is not to avoid difficulty, but to produce a character adequate to meet it when it comes. It does not make life easy; rather it tries to make us great enough for life.

Christian Aid Week

11 - 17 May 2008

Christian Aid Week has one aim: to help eradicate global poverty. This year’s Christian Aid Week unites 300,000 people in the UK’s biggest house-to-house collection. Christian Aid inspires hundreds of events, brings together thousands of churches and reaches millions of people with messages about poverty. And most importantly, it helps people in poor communities around the world change their lives.
Christian Aid, the Christian relief, development and advocacy agency, crosses divides of religion, race and nationality, acting as the good Samaritan and going the extra mile to proclaim release to captives.
Christian Aid works with and through local partner organisations overseas. For many years Christian Aid has worked with partners of all faiths and none who share our vision of championing the eradication of poverty and injustice.
The charity works in more than 50 countries for example Afghanistan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya and Brazil. So when that red and white envelope drops through your door this month, please consider giving generously. For more details see www.caweek.org.
