| Singing their hearts out! |

Albums: The album of Last Choir Standing show features two tracks from the ACM Gospel Choir ‘September’ and ‘Joyful, Joyful’. They lost no time in recording their own self-titled debut album of 12 tracks, featuring many they sang on the show including ‘I Believe I Can Fly’, ‘Lean On Me’, ‘Shackles’ and ‘He Reigns’. You may have enjoyed their seasonal CD given away with The Mail on Sunday last December. The Choir: The ACM Gospel Choir was formed three years ago born out of an idea Mark De-Lisser had to utilise the students’ infectious talent and enthusiasm. Mark modestly plays down his role. ‘I do very little in the choir other than wave my arms about in time with the music. I really enjoy being part of the choir and the spirit of togetherness is something that is a true blessing to me. The choir’s ability to share joy through their music is an unbelievable gift and I hope it continues for many years to come.’ Mark has inspired the choir to express love and pure joy when they sing and, together with some outstanding backing musicians, has created a new Gospel sound which touches and uplifts all who hear it. Mark writes in the album notes: ‘The ACM Gospel Choir are a group of singers who are united by the love that they share amongst them. This album seeks to involve you, the listener, in the sharing of this love. ‘So if you are in need of a friend, keep listening. If you are in trouble, keep listening. If you feel down, keep listening. Wherever you find yourself and whatever situation you may be in there is a song here for you. So listen on and allow the love to be shared.’ Mark sums up his own love list – ‘My wife, food and most of all God!’ The choir’s recent achievements also include supporting Russell Watson in his tour in which he described them as ‘his favourite choir’ from the BBC show. The choir can be heard this month at the following venues: Prince’s Hall, Aldershot: 13 March – Mini-Festival, Peterfield: 20 March – Chesnut Tree Childrens Hospice, Haywards Heath: 25 March – Festival of Song, Exeter You can get the album on CD or download from: Amazon, Play.com, iTunes and Christian bookshops price £9.99 |
