Quote of the Day

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly all nature seeks God and works toward him.

Meister Eckhart
How many can you fit into a Robin Reliant?

No, this is not a joke at the expense of three-wheelers. And the answer is 14! A group of adventurous rally drivers have broken the World Record for the number of people crammed into a three-wheeler Robin Reliant.

"Sure, it was a bit of a laugh,
but there is an important issue that we
want to do something about too.
"

p7 banger4.jpgThe cram took place in the run-up to their rally around the Baltic’s and into Moldova, which aims to raise funds to support victims of people trafficking in the Eastern European country.

Their feat, achieved in the ASDA car park in Clapham, south London, in March included cramming 14 people into a Robin Reliant and 21 people into a Volvo 740.

While the crams were not recorded by Guinness World Records – sadly they only recognise such stunts in Classic Mini and the Smart Car – the car cram has been acknowledged as World Records by the ‘recordholders.org’ website: (www.record holders.org/en/list/carcram.html)

According to 29-year old Gareth Wallace, Snowdodgers Rally co-organiser: 'People trafficking is not your average Sunday sermon topic, but it really should be. That’s why we decided to do something crazy like see how many people we could cram into a Robin Reliant. Sure, it was a bit of a laugh, but there is an important issue that we want to do something about too.'p7 banger3.jpg

Organised by a group of Christian friends eager to combine their love for cars, adventure and helping those in need, the ‘Snowdodgers Rally’ saw six teams of rally cars hit the road in an bid to raise over £1 million Moldovan Leus – the equivalent of £48,000 – for charities fighting people trafficking in Moldova.

The group of fundraising explorers set off from Hyde Park on a 4000mile trek across land, sea and snow as they head through Scandinavia, into the Arctic circle, around the Baltic’s, popping into Russia, before ending up in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. There they handed over both their funds raised and their cars to Children on the Edge and Moldovan Ministries, their two chosen charities.

The fleet of cars for the rally included a number of 80’s classics: a Nissan Bluebird, Vauxhall Frontera, Saab 900i, Volvo 740, Citroen AX and the quintessentially British 3-wheeled Robin Reliant!
