Sing Christmas

Thousands of people in pubs and clubs will be joining in with a big festive singalong to celebrate the birth of Jesus sing christmas.jpgChrist.

Sing Christmas is an interactive carol service broadcast live by BBC Radio Leicester at 7pm on Monday 21 December and people in venues across the region will tune in and sing along.

Last year over 100 pubs, clubs, community centres, care homes and many other places joined in. ‘We had a great time. Whole families shared in the singing and fun. It helped to lift the spirits in what had been a worrying and difficult time,’ said David Grainger at the Beacon Inn, Loughborough. Churches helped local venues take part. In Glenfield people packed into a supermarket café to Sing Christmas. ‘It was much enjoyed by us at the Co-op – about 120 of us gathered. The Co-op supplied refreshments and we had a great mix of ages,’ said Stephen Wadsworth.

Others enjoyed a good sing in the warmth of care and residential homes. ‘Residents, relatives and staff all joined in. The atmosphere was warm and positive and we all ended the evening with the feelgood factor,’ said Sarah Harrison at The Gables Care Home, Market Harborough.

Organised by the Leicestershire Churches Media Trust, Sing Christmas aims to take the real meaning of Christmas to people where they are.

The organisers hope this year many more people will tune to BBC Radio Leicester on 104.9FM, DAB digital or on the web at: www. bbc.co.uk/leicester and SING CHRISTMAS.
