| How about doing something amazing in 2010? |
Perhaps summiting the highest mountain in Africa, trekking through the beautiful Rila and Pirin mountains of Bulgaria or rafting down the world famous rapids of the National White Water Centre in Bala, North Wales. How about having the experience of a lifetime while raising funds for the some of the world’s poorest and most needy people? As a non-profit Christian organisation Trailblazers Sponsored Challenges Ltd has been operating since 1998 partnering with small and large UK charities to set up and run sponsored challenge events, which provide a fun and innovative way for charities to raise significant funds, their profile and also engage potential new supporters. The events that Trailblazer’s have run to date have released over £2.5 million into the UK charity sector. That is £2.5 million that has gone into helping some of the poorest and most destitute people in the world. Lisa Hector of Link Romania writes: “The Challenge was an incredible way to raise funds and we nervously set our top limit at £20k in the sure knowledge we wouldn’t really reach it but we could always live in hope! As it was we raised £35k from 15 trekkers and we were delighted. It’s such a great way of raising substantial funds that we are running another trek for supporters with Trailblazers in 2010.” Trailblazers works in partnership with charities, bringing skills and experience to make sponsored challenge events as successful as possible. Claire Lanham of The Bethany Children’s Trust writes: “Working with Trailblazers to organise our first major sponsored challenge has been a really smooth-running and encouraging experience. It was extremely helpful to have personalised help with setting our targets for the event (not just financial but also broader impacts we wanted to result from the challenge), and practical guidance on steps to achieve those targets. Being able to use Trailblazers’ established procedures, materials and guidelines, but with plenty of room to include the personal feel and profile of our own organisation was a great combination. We reached our initial target of 10 participants very quickly, so went on to recruit a total of 20 for the Ben Nevis Challenge – many are new supporters and everyone has made a real commitment to fundraising. It’s been an excellent boost to our income in uncertain financial times! Despite the economic climate in 2009 Trailblazers has seen its participant fundraising record smashed. George Ruston raised a whopping £29K for Hope UK on a challenge to summit Mt Toubkal the highest mountain in N. Africa. This fantastic achievement shatters the previous record of £15K and is a real example of what can be achieved. George says: ‘I am really pleased that going on an adventure challenge has meant that Hope UK will benefit by more than £29,000 – meaning that they will be able to encourage even more young people to make drug-free choices. It took me right out of my comfort zone but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.’ In total, Hope UK raised over £45K between two participants; a great example of the impact running a sponsored challenge can make. So if you are seeking to do something different in 2010 and want to make a difference contact Trailblazers Sponsored Challenges, via their website www.trailblazers.org.uk or phone 01903 705360. We’ll help your footprints make an impact! |
