Quote of the Day

Whether you like it or not, whether you know it or not, secretly all nature seeks God and works toward him.

Whilst we all love receiving gifts and cards on Valentine’s Day, this year things are going to be financially tough for many. However, that doesn’t mean that love has to suffer; there are lots of ways to express your love to someone close, without breaking the bank.

Top Ten Tips to say ‘I Love You’ for free:
1. Handmade cards make a lovely gift and you can use materials you find around the house.

2. Write a poem, summing up why your loved one is so special to you. This will mean infinitely more than a pre-written poem in a card.

3. Actions speak louder than words; why not clean the house, wash the car or take care of the chores for a week?

4. Choose your favourite romantic photo or love-song and explain to your spouse why you love it so much.

5. Do a ‘memory storm’, talk to your partner about the best memories you have shared in your relationship.

6. If you live near the countryside, you could go for a romantic walk nearby.

7. If you’re blessed with a garden, why not pick your own bunch of flowers and make a lovely bouquet? Flowers that are in bloom in February include snowdrops, crocus and cyclamen.

8. If you live near the coast, write your love message in the sand.

9. If you’re musically inclined, why not write a love song and serenade your cherie-amour?

10. Most of all, tell your spouse or partner why you love them so much, making sure you keep doing it throughout the year, not just on Valentine’s Day!

Whilst we’re taking a light-hearted look at Valentine’s, the serious reality is that many are trapped in unmanageable debt. If you are really struggling with your finances visit www.capuk.org or call CAP on 0800 328 0006. Christians Against Poverty (CAP) operates through local churches in a national network of debt counselling centres offering free, confidential advice.
