Quote of the Day

The whole of creation, with all of its laws, is a revelation of God.

Dean William Ralph Inge
Feeling Good

Style guru Gok Wan is famous for his no-nonsense advice to women about how to look good. But a trainee Church of how to feel good naked 1.jpgEngland vicar has gone one better.

Sheila Bridge has written How to feel good Naked, with the subtitle ‘Learning to love the body you’ve got’.
Sheila believes that many women have problems with the way they look. “I’ve been really worried by some of the scary statistics that have come out recently,” she says. “A UK survey showed that 98 per cent of women hated their body. Seven out of 10 think that their life would be better if they had a different body. In one American survey, 81 per cent of 10-year-olds had dieted.

“Also, 52 per cent would rather be run over by a truck than be fat.

“I think these are really alarming statistics, that tell us women have real problems with their bodies.”

So, she says, the book looks at all the pressures women are put under by films and the media to conform to the perfect body. And she’s clear that wanting to look good doesn’t make someone a shallow person! There’s lots of helpful advice about food, fitness and fashion too.

But, she adds, “The real meaning of the book is that it’s about the fact that the only healthy basis for self-esteem is unconditional love. And the only infallible source for that is God.”
