| New outdoor activity facility |
The foundation stone of the latest site of a Christian-based youth organisaton has been laid by the Duchess of Gloucester. The Whitemoor Lakes Centre in Staffordshire is a new 300-bedroom outdoor activity facility for young people from all over the UK. It is the latest project of the Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs (NAYC), founded in 1961 by the Revd Harry Whittaker. NAYC’s Action Centres UK company now runs similar ventures all over the UK. More than 100,000 people visit every ![]() year to experience water sports, climbing, fencing, walking and team games. The site was given to NAYC by John and Sylvia Gilmour, who have farmed it for the last 50 years. Action Centres chief executive John Whittaker said, “The young people and children who come to Whitemoor Lakes will not only have a brilliant experience but the opportunity to develop physically, mentally and spiritually through activities as diverse as art, abseiling and windsurfing.” |
