Skateboarding Priest ![]() Priests are supposed to be very grave and reverend figures – but Hungarian Father Zoltan Lendvai became a YouTube hit thanks to his amazing skateboarding skills. The video shows Fr Lendvai, 45, giving a talk to young people in his parish while skateboarding. The video has gained more than 90,000 views, while other videos of the same event in Hungarian have been watched more than 350,000 times. Fr Lendvai believes his skateboarding could help encourage more young people to go to church. New sights for Diane Louise Jordan TV presenter Diane Louise Jordan is supporting development charity Sightsavers this month, as it encourages churches to hold special services that focus on the 145 million people in the world who are blind. World Sight Day is on October 17, and many churches will be focusing their prayers on the issue. “I was appalled to learn that 90 per cent of disabled children in developing countries don’t go to school,” says Diane. “Marking Sightsavers Sunday this year provides us with an opportunity to give thanks for all we have and to consider those less fortunate across the world.” Street Pastors praised Street Pastors in Cardiff were nominated for the prestigious South Wales Police Authority Community Safety Volunteer of the Year Awards. The nomination came in recognition of their work keeping Cardiff’s streets safe. Street Pastors, volunteers from local churches, patrol city night-clubs and bars in the evenings, offering a helping hand and listening ear to late-night revellers. “This is a real encouragement to our team of volunteers who work tirelessly with anyone who needs their support,” said director Gary Smith. |
