It’s usually only open one day a year – but the Great Hall of Lambeth Palace, the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury, is hosting an astonishing exhibition from May to July. Treasures of Lambeth Palace Library marks 400 years of the Library’s existence. Since 1610 it’s been accumulating rare and precious books and papers, including the execution warrant for Mary Queen of Scots and beautiful mediaeval prayer books. It runs from May 17 – July 23, Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm; closed on May 22 and on June 12 and June 26. Admission: adult £8, concessions £7 Resources galore Some people think the Church is tired or behind the times. They’ve never been to the Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Park, Esher. Now in its 25th year, CRE this May is set to welcome 13,000 visitors over its four days, and will boast 400 exhibitors. Everything from church notice boards through Christian jewellery to state-of-the-art data projection systems is there, and church leaders come from all over the country to be inspired for their congregations. There’s also a fascinating seminar and workshop programme. CRE is on from May 11-14; more details from www.creonline.co.uk Filming faith The Tony Blair Faith Foundation has launched a film competition aimed at helping people of different faiths understand each other better. ![]() Young people aged 25 and under from around the world are invited to make short films showing how their faith inspires them. The judges will be Tony Blair and other high-profile figures, including Queen Rania of Jordan and actress Natalie Portman. The three winning films will be premiered at BAFTA in July. The foundation is offering a free portable video camera for the 50 best pitches, to help as many young people as possible participate. |
