June is a traditional month for weddings.
A new website has been set up to help brides and grooms make their special day personal, meaningful, spiritual an d beautiful.
If you want a church wedding, then www.yourchurchwedding.org is the place to start your plans. The wedding planner was launched last October to coincide with the introduction a new Church law making it possible for more people to wed in the church of their choice.
'The tradition of the church wedding is alive and well, and recent changes will make it possible for even more couples to marry in church,' says the Rev Peter Moger, who helped create the planner. 'The ceremony planner is a wonderful resource which helps couples discover these riches and make choices as they plan a service which is personal to them.'
One such choice is that of the hymns. Amazing Grace is the hymn most frequently chosen by the 400 couples planning their wedding each month through the site. The most popular Bible reading is wedding favourite 1 Corinthians 13, which ends with verse 13: ‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’ There is also a ‘listen and choose’ service, which gives couples the choice of 25 hymns for weddings and 12 readings from the Bible.
You can read how others planned their special day.KT and Steve Allen arranged their wedding on a strict budget of just £5000. With the average wedding now breaking the £20,000 mark, this was a considerable saving.
'The cost of marrying in a church is minimal. It's all the other extras that cost the money. So we made a shortlist of what we really wanted at our wedding and then scoured the internet for bargains and turned our hands to making things. There's no need to postpone your wedding because of the cost.' added KT.
